Help! I need some advice from my two wheeled friends.

So lately my wife has been working alot of evening shifts, and for the past couple months has been carpooling with a male co-worker. At first I didn't mind, I would rather have someone with her in case she has car trouble or something like that, but it seems that they have become a little bit more than friends. You know the scenario, the phone calls that hangup, she starts wearing nice clothes to work, talking about him all the time, etc. I don't know what to think. If I'm out in the garage when she gets home (usually after midnight) he just drops her off and leaves, but if the lights are off in the garage and I'm in the house (they think I'm sleeping) they sit out in the car for like twenty minutes. I asked her once what they were doing, she said "just talking"....whatever. So last night I decide that I'm going to see what really goes on out there. I leave the garage door open, but turn out all the lights. About the time she usually gets home, I go out and hide in the garage and wait. In a few minutes, his car pulls into my driveway, and I'm hiding behind my bike. When his headlights shine through the garage and onto my bike, I see some thing that I just can't believe. The rear sprocket is already worn and hooked but the chain looks OK. Do you think I should change just the sprocket or the chain and sprocket?

This is not my post, I took it from one of the members of a riders forum that I belong to. Some of you may have already read this one, I think that he got it from someone else.

Ride Well and remember to always maintain your chain and sprocket.......if you have one.

Made me ill. Some people really do post weird crap on the Internet. I mean, who on earth thinks they can get away with not changing the sprocket when it's time for the chain to go? Besides you can use the worn chain on the co-worker if you first knock out the headlights.

You should get a scooter. No chain, no worn sprockets.

I wasn't going to comment, then I thought, I've got to, he's bound to have sitemeter or statcounter and will see that I visited his blog and left without any comment for him in his sprocket hour of need.

You got me good! Of course with a belt driven scooter and the mechanical ability of a baboon I don't know sprockets from chains, so you got me there too!

Mr. Earl: I was smiling all the way through because I've read this before. The one I read was a guy with a hot rod and he seen his chrome on his headers was blueing and wanted to know if he should get them rechromed. As I read this I was thinking wait a minute, a KLR doesn't have any stinkin' chrome. Worn sprocket was a nice touch. If you have plenty of adjustment left in your chain I would just replace the sprocket :) After all you can roll a chain in anytime if you need it.

I knew you were too smart to be riding a bike that didn't have a kelvar belt :)

This is a funny one! Of course, the answer is to bring it into the shop - leave this one to the pros.

Take care Earl!

Could I suggest that by keeping things well oiled these events may not have happened. Better replace the lot and start again, chain sprockets AND misses.

Good post. Made us smile :o)

It was the guy's own fault. If he had done proper preventative maintenance, neither scenario would have happened!

I should have read the comments first so I wouldn't have to add my name to the gotcha list.

It is more evidence that a scooter would provide for less stress. Chains and sprockets are just one more complication in an already complicated life.

I want a KLR.

You really got me! I was wondering what 2wheelers got to do with your wife cheating on you! That's a good one! It made my afternoon! Didn't know you could be funny Stephen! and i support John Mc Clane; tell your friend to get a scooter! that way, he will not spot the worn out things on his bike instead of the business of the day.

What do people get in return for posting weird stuff on the internet? I really don't understand. Anyway I had the strength to read the post through out the end and it got me laughing. Take time to visit Motorcycle Street Bikes for a chance to enjoy amazing offers.
